Energy Air Team Takes Home Top Awards at Annual Excellence in Construction Event

The Energy Air Commercial team gets to add two new trophies to the shelf after being presented with an Eagle award and the Marketing Award of Excellence Saturday night at the annual Excellence in Construction awards banquet hosted by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC).

Tim Lewis, Senior Project Manager, and Crystal Pointer, BIM/CAD Technician, accepted the Eagle award for the mechanical system installation for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley, on behalf of the Energy Air team that completed the project in 2014. The Eagle is the highest token of recognition given by ABC in each category.

The use of building information modeling (BIM) was a huge factor in the success of the project, according to Lewis. The ability to coordinate trades to prevent clashes in the field was paramount.

“In my forty years in this industry, I can honestly say that I could not have successfully built this project without the BIM capabilities Crystal and the Energy Air team brought to the table,” he said. “Everyone did an outstanding job, including Harvey Tillman, who played a major role in our overall success.”

Energy Air Director of Marketing, Kati Bucciero, also received the Marketing Award of Excellence in the subcontractor category for the entry book design of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley. This was the fifth year in row Bucciero was the recipient of the award in the subcontractor category.

The banquet, held at the Hyatt Regency in Orlando, was an opportunity to network with colleagues, industry peers and significant others, all while celebrating the accomplishments of the industry’s leading construction professionals and projects.

ABC’s Excellence in Construction program has become the premier competition within the construction industry that recognizes outstanding construction performance.

Energy Air’s contracted scope for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley included installation of a mechanical system with nearly 1,000 tons of cooling equipment, including chilled-heating water air handling units, all piping, ductwork, fans, boilers, fan coil units, pumps, smoke exhaust, air distribution, steam piping, chemical water treatment, a building automation system, and test and balance.
